AsiaWorld-Expo has vowed to step up security for shows ahead of an Ariana Grande concert in Hong Kong on September 21.A spokesman said yesterday the venue near the airport will call upon the Ariana concert organizer to come up with security measures following the bomb explosion in Manchester. It is also considering using sniffer dogs.The venue will also step up security for all concerts. Apart from routine checks of their belongings, concert- goers will have to go through metal detectors, the spokesman said. In the past, there have been metal detector checks for specific concerts such as K-Pop boy band BTS. The expo would like to extend it to cover all concerts eventually.It is also studying the possibility of introducing a "smart wristband" for the audience, which would allow the venue to monitor crowd flow and tackle emergencies. Ideally speaking, the wristband would locate the audience member and track the overall flow of 10,000 people. The venue has a capacity of 14,000 seats.Ticket sales of Grande's Hong Kong concert started on Monday.
